Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered an Emmy Award. She is best known for her part in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a housewife. Her childhood was spent within a household with four other brothers. In her early years she was aspired to become a court reporter. However, after graduating from high school, and moving into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. In her teens, her first role as an actress came in the 1980 soap opera All My Children. The career of Delaney has been filled by a myriad of TV films and dramas. As with her professional career, her personal life hasn't been happy or successful. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two divorces that failed and fought with alcohol addiction. In 2005 she lost the custody of her only son.
